Profhilo

The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells.

When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin. One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.

The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.

How Does Profhilo® Work?

Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid. The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

When should I expect to see the benefits?

The standard protocol for the face consists of 2 injections; it is common to see improvements after the first session.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the area that is being treated Profhilo® protocol requires 2 treatments with a month in-between, each treatment normally can be completed in 15 minutes.

Price

£250.00 per treatment

After treatment, how quickly can I resume my normal activities/life?

The procedure has no downtime, and you can immediately continue as normal.

There might be redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injections and will generally disappear within a few days, if it’s still present after 72 hours or is worsening, please contact us.

In order to reduce bruising, it is important to adhere to the aftercare regime. Please avoid any medications such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen or Diclofenac, Fish Oils, Omega 3 Fatty Acid, Garlic, High Dose Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort and Ginseng for the week prior and week following a treatment unless medically necessary or after discussion with your Clinician.

Alcohol increases the time the blood takes to clot which increases the risk of bruising, please avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to treatment and at least 24 hours after your treatment (abstain from alcohol for 7 days prior and 7 days post treatment for optimal results).

There is research that suggests that taking arnica tablets for 7 days prior to your treatment can reduce the likelihood of bruising, tablets can be purchased from any herbal food shop.

If you’re having your face treated with Profhilo, all make up will need to be removed prior to the treatment, so please come ‘fresh faced’ if possible.

IMMEDIATE after care – What to do at home ·

  • You can apply a cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment if needed.
  • Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers as it increases the likelihood of bruising.
  • Avoid facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, microdermabrasion, IPL or laser treatments to the area of treatment for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • The product is injected in small ‘deposits’, you may be able to see them initially, but they settle usually within hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin. Don’t worry this will settle, there is no need to massage.
  • If you’ve had Profhilo to your face, make-up should not be worn for 12 hours.

If you develop symptoms of a vascular occlusion such as severe or dull pain around the eye, face, lips or any place that the profhilo has been injected, any weakness of the eye or vison disruption or dark discolouration of skin with prolonged blanching or mottling of the skin within the first 24 hours of treatment then please contact us immediately.

Although the risk of vascular occlusion is very rare, it requires urgent assessment and treatment.

Treatment Follow Up

For optimal results Profhilo requires 2 treatments 4 weeks apart, very occasionally a 3rd treatment may be required. Profhilo works on remodelling the skin so the results are not immediate, the final result will not be evident for around 8 weeks after your initial treatment, but it will be worth the wait.

If you are currently breast feeding, pregnant, or may be pregnant, then we will be unable to treat you. Treatment isn’t advisable if there is an active skin infection, cold sores or if you are unwell- including colds, coughs, sore throats etc.

Please contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.
