Acne Treatments

Acne can really knock people's confidence. It doesn't matter how many different types of skin care you use, no product can never get rid of it completely. To make a real difference you need a treatment that will penetrate into the deep layers of the skin.

Here at DermaNu Clinic we have helped so many lovely people treat their acne/acne scars using only minimally invasive treatments. None of which involve taking any medication.

So what actually is it?

Acne is a common skin condition that can occur when hair follicles become blocked by over production of oils and dead skin cells. It can cause black heads, white heads and sore pimples- it can form any where on the body. It can appear inflamed, angry and red. It can be developed by anyone of any age - however it is more common in teenagers.

What causes it?

Acne is formed when the hair follicle becomes blocked with excess oils and dead skin cells. Hormones and genetic can also play a role. If both of your parents suffered with acne, it is more than likely you will as well. It is a common misconception that stress can cause acne - this is not directly true. If you already suffer from acne, added stress can make it worse.

How can it be treated?

The type of treatment that will be recommended varies. It is dependant on how severe the acne is and what the aesthetician deems appropriate. The most common treatments used are...

 • Chemical Peels - A chemical peel is used to remove the top layers of the skin and lessens the appearance of blemishes. The intensity of the peel is determined by the severity concern. Superficial peels will only remove the top layers of skin and will just give and over all glow and appear smoother. A medium strength peel will remove the epidermal and upper dermal layers. The high intensity peel will penetrate much deeper into the skin, extending down to the lower dermal layer. This high intensity peel works well for removing wrinkles and blemishes. Once the skin has peeled, it will regrow much stronger - this will result in the face looking brighter and much smoother.

 • LED Phototherapy - This treatment works by projecting beams of pure light onto the face, to repair and rejuvenate the skin back to health. The skin will absorb the wavelengths of light and use it as an energy source. The light encourages collagen production, accelerates tissue repair and kills bacteria. The LED phototherapy treatment works well in conjunction with many facials we offer- such as the Hydradermie. This treatment is a great alternative to some of the more invasive treatments we offer to treat acne.

 • IPL Laser - This laser treatment has been clinically proven to accelerate the healing process of acne. The treatment works by directing pulses of light into the top layer of the skin (epidermis layer). The blood vessels in the skin absorbs the light and convert it into heat energy. This stops the vessels supplying blood to the sebaceous gland. This slows the production of oil (sebum). The IPL laser treatment is programed to produce an exact and personalised pulse length and wave length to reduce the visible signs of acne, without damaging the skin.

Don't let acne stop you from living your best life, and being your best self!
