Acne

What is it?

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become blocked with excess oil and dead skin cells. It will often cause blackheads whiteheads and pimples. It can look inflamed angry and red. Anyone of any age can develop acne however it is more common in teenagers.

What causes it


The main causes of acne are excess oil production; hair follicles become clogged by oil and dead skin cells.Bacteria and excess hormone activity (androgens).A family history (genetics) play a role, in acne if both parents had acne you are likely to develop it too.Stress doesn’t cause acne however if you already have acne additional stress may make it worse.
 

How to treat it

Your aesthetician will examine your skin and advice you on the best treatment for you.

Some treatments include:-

Chemical peels (lactic, acid Glycolic acid, TCA and Phenol)
HydrafacialLED (Light Emmitting Diodes)
LaserIPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
PDT (PhotoDynamic Therapy )

For faster results a combination of treatments may be advised.
